About
For more than two decades, the Cross River community has turned to Dr. Kaushik's for authentic Ayurvedic and naturopathic guidance — offered with warmth, patience and deep experience.
About the Center
Dr. Kaushik's Ayurvedic & Naturopathic Wellness Center is a family-owned practice in Cross River, New York. We share the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda alongside naturopathic principles to help each individual understand their own nature and live in greater balance.
Our approach is unhurried and education-first. Rather than quick fixes, we take time to understand your constitution, your daily rhythms and your goals — then offer practical guidance around food, herbs, routine, movement and rest that you can actually live with.
The practice was established in New York City in 2011 and later opened its Cross River home, welcoming individuals from across Westchester and the surrounding region. Every year, the Kaushik family travels to India to host camps offering free wellness care for communities in need.
Meet the Vaidyas
Somesh N. Kaushik is the founder and principal Vaidya of Dr. Kaushik's Ayurvedic & Naturopathic Wellness Center in Cross River, NY, and founder and principal instructor at the Institute for the Advancement of Ayurvedic Sciences. With more than 40 years of experience as an Ayurvedic Vaidya — practicing across Alabama, Connecticut and New York — he is among the most experienced Ayurvedic practitioners in North America.
He completed his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from Kurukshetra University, India, in 1983. After moving to the United States in 1985, he earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Alabama in 1988, and went on to serve as an epidemiologist and director of an HIV/AIDS sero-surveillance program with the Alabama Department of Public Health — all while maintaining his Ayurvedic practice.
In 1999 he moved to Connecticut and earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) from the University of Bridgeport in 2003. He taught Ayurveda and public health there and served as Director of Admissions, remaining on the faculty of the Division of Health Sciences from 2001 to 2009. He established his own practice in New York City in 2011 and later opened the Cross River center to welcome the wider community.
Today he lectures on Ayurveda at colleges, universities and symposiums worldwide, teaches in the Integrative and Holistic Health department at The Graduate Institute in Bethany, CT, and incorporates therapeutic yoga into his guidance. Each year he and his family host camps in India offering free wellness care to underserved communities. He warmly welcomes you into his wellness community.
